More excellence from AQX - AquaTots Training and Certification Course
Who should attend? This course is ideal for aqua fitness leaders or lifeguards who will be teaching classes for Tots and a supervising adult. AquaTot classes incorporate a baby boat (flotation device for the Tot). The adult may be a parent, relative, or other care giver. Exercise adaptations are offered for post-natal Moms, since this population often accompanies their little ones to AquaTots classes and programs.
People can attend AquaTots training for personal interest or continuing education credits. However, there are two levels of AquaTots certification available if desired. Level 1 Certification involves fully attending and participating in an AquaTots course and achieving 80% on the written theory exam. Level 2 Certification is achieved after a year of teaching AquaTots classes, and a successful practical assessment. A separate practical exam fee is involved.
AquaTots Course Learning Objectives:
The full day AquaTots course instructs leaders how to:
Arrange an AquaTots course at your facility. The course requires at least two hours of pool time with availability of baby boats for each course participant. Ideally, pool time will be 1.5 hours late morning; 1.5 hours late afternoon. A suitable training room will be used during the rest of the day.
Immediately following the AquaTots course, candidates write a multiple choice theory exam. This open-book exam requires a score of 80% to pass. This leads to Level 1 AquaTots Certification
Leaders who have AquaTots Level 1 Certification, and have been teaching AquaTots classes for a year, can submit a video of their AquaTots class for assessment. An assessment fee applies. Successful assessment leads to AquaTots Level 2 Certification. Contact AQX for guidelines and more information.
