Alison Bonnyman, B.Sc.PT, M.Sc.R.S.
Alison Bonnyman is the founder and lead instructor for the Canadian Aquatic Rehabilitation Instructors. Alison has over 30 years of clinical experience, working as a physical therapist in hospitals and private clinics in Canada. Her clinical work and expertise has focused on orthopaedics, long term care, and chronic neurological conditions. |
Canadian Aquatic Rehab (CARI) was founded in 2012 by Alison Bonnyman to support and teach aquatic therapy in Canada. CARI's focus is evidence-based aquatic therapy courses meeting the needs of rehab professionals. Advancement of skills among these professionals provides optimal aquatic therapeutic care in our communities. Courses emphasize: effective use of hydrodynamics, best use of the water, and specific aquatic therapy techniques. CARI-trained therapists enable clients to be more independent, attain greater function, and improve quality of life. CARI training empowers aquatic rehab professionals to appropriately prescribe and progress pool exercise options.
By linking aquatic therapists with AquaBility-trained exercise instructors, we build a bridge in our communities. Our goal is to network trained therapists with the aquatic exercise community, for the benefit of community members.
Connie and Alison have been working in harmony since 2006. Our goal is to facilitate the continuum of care from acute/rehab hospital care to post-rehab, community programming. Our services are complimentary, providing education for therapists (to ensure evidence-based rehab practices), and community-based AquaBility class instructors. Contact us to arrange training for aquatic therapists and AquaBility instructors in your community!
